Untangle is an AI mediator for couples, built on the WinWin Conversations framework by Kamal Sarma, with Nonviolent Communication underneath. Tara sits between you, asks one question at a time, gives you each a fair turn and checks you were heard, and she never takes a side. It’s an iPhone app, 3 days free, then $25 a month for both of you, and it’s not therapy or for emergencies.

Untangle is an AI mediator for couples: Tara sits between you, each on your own phone, for the fight you keep having, so you both walk away heard.
Most AIs agree with whoever’s typing. Tara makes sure both sides are heard. She’s not on either side. She’s not a therapist. She’s not a person. Tara is an AI built on Anthropic’s Claude.
Her rules are written into how she works. She will:
Untangle was made in New York by its founder, Kailash Sarma. In his letter he writes: “My father has spent decades teaching people how to have the conversation they’re avoiding.” And: “Untangle is built on his work. It exists because I needed it to exist.”
You’ve had this fight before. Underneath every one of them, one of you doesn’t feel heard. Therapy helps a lot of couples. It also costs a lot, insurance usually won’t pay for it, and no therapist is in the room at 11pm, when the fight is.
Tara’s method is WinWin Conversations by Kamal Sarma, with Nonviolent Communication underneath.
The Untangle Method is WinWin Conversations, Kamal Sarma’s framework, put to work: both people’s needs are real, your job is to make the other person feel heard, and the goal is a shared outcome, not a victory. Underneath it sits Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication, the grammar of an honest sentence.
Kamal Sarma is a former McKinsey consultant and monk of six years, and his framework grew out of a decade of work with couples, hospitals and companies. Untangle is built on his 10 years of research into what makes people feel heard. Kamal’s book, The Art of WinWin Conversations, goes deeper.
Every untangle follows 5 steps: what happened, how it felt, what you need, what you appreciate, what you’re asking for. It’s why every untangle ends by asking one question: did you feel heard?
Start with you. Finish together.

Untangle is an iPhone app. It’s arriving on the App Store soon. Purchases in the app are billed by Apple to your Apple Account.
Your partner sees nothing you wrote until you share it, and a private word with Tara stays private. Stored conversations are encrypted with AES-256. They’re never sold, never used for ads and never used to train AI models. You can export or delete everything from your account, any time.
Untangle is not therapy and not for emergencies. If a conversation turns to a crisis, Tara pauses and points you to real people who can help. The check is automatic, and it won’t catch everything.
It is not designed for abuse, coercive control, intimidation, or fear for your safety. You must be at least 18 years old to use it. We have no study of Untangle yet, so don’t take our word for it.
